8th Commandment of Internet Marketing for Urgent Care, “Thou Shalt Not Use Abuse Thy Neighbors’ Inbox”! – Email Marketing
This commandment focuses on Email Marketing.
Email Marketing is a great way to build a prospect list, build brand loyalty, cross sell existing clients and more. Two tricks to this area of marketing are discipline and tact. The only way to get that email out is to write it! Many Urgent Care Clinics have a hard time keeping up with the daily tasks of running a clinic let alone write a email newsletter; Build that culture with the staff or choose to pay someone else to handle it. It’s a much needed area. The second item “tact” is just as important as getting the content out. The last thing anyone shooting for a successful email marketing campaign wants to have happen having a mass number of people getting the emails to hit the dreaded “unsubscribe” link. There’s a fine line between emails being helpful and informative to flat out annoying. It’s best to practice a “less is more” philosophy when creating email marketing campaigns.
When starting an email marketing campaign one of the biggest decisions is on the best tool to use. Here are 3 of the best in the business to choose from.
– The Free Option – Mailchimp is the best free option out there. Now with that said, there are some trade offs for being free. (co-branded emails, limited form signup options, etc) Mailchimp is a great place to start if you want to keep email marketing an in-house low budget option.
– The Standard Pay Option – Constant Contact has been a household name for email marketing for several years now. It does have some better features considering it’s a paid service. There are some drawbacks. Some companies have complained of not being able to get past the spam box when using this tool. The results have varied from company to company so the best thing to do is give it a try if their tools looks like it has the features, ease of use and pricing to match the needs of the email marketing campaign.
– The Advanced Pay Option – Aweber can do all of the things that constant contact can do, but with more options and flexibility. There are also some nice extras that are very effective. One of them is the ability to turn a blog into an automatic newsletter email. This is by far the most powerful of the 3 and the price is actually less than Constant Contact. The only drawback is it’s ease of use. It’s not overly complicated, but compared to the other 2 options Aweber does have a bigger learning curve. They do have great tutorial videos and tech support to help.
